Paneling is sold both in boards and sheets but sheets are generally a little easier to install. Divide the wall length by the width of your panel sheets to get the number of sheets you ll need. Adhesive may be used to fasten panels to a smooth well adhered surface. This must be plumb or the remaining panels will necessarily be crooked.

Cutouts for large openings such as windows and doors can often be used to panel small areas such as above a window. Cut it to fit the height of the wall apply a bead of silicone caulk down the entire length and press it into the inside corner. Don t forget to subtract the size of any doors or windows. Drive four finishing nails through the top edge of the panel.

Cut each sheet 1 4 inch shorter than the distance from the floor to the ceiling. On the back of each panel place a 1 4 bead of adhesive about 1 from the edges of the panel. On the other hand if furred out paneling runs wall to wall between inside corners the increased wall thickness shouldn t present a problem. Use a trowel and apply a 1 4 inch thick layer of frp adhesive to the back side of the first panel.

Before you start your frp panels installation cut your corner moulding. Install the panels to the wall studs with finishing nails or a pneumatic nailer. Apply adhesive to the framing in a wavy pattern. Press the panel firmly onto the wall and add nails at approximately 12 intervals to hold it.

Position the panel on the wall leaving a 1 4 inch space at the bottom and drive the four nails partway into the wall.
